Opportunity Information: Apply for RDBCP VAPG 2026
The Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG) program is designed to help agricultural producers and producer-based businesses develop or expand value-added activities. These activities focus on processing or marketing agricultural products in ways that create new products, open up new markets, or boost producer income.
Eligible applicants include individual agricultural producers, producer groups, farmer or rancher cooperatives, and majority-controlled producer-based businesses. Funding is available for both planning and working capital projects that are economically viable and sustainable.
Applications must be submitted through the USDA's Grant Application Portal (GAP), not through Grants.gov. All applicants and anyone assisting with the application must have USDA Level 2 eAuthentication access. The Authorized Representative of the applying entity must initiate the application and is responsible for its accuracy.
Priority consideration for grants may be given to first-time applicants, smaller funding requests (under $125,000), and projects that support rural development and geographic diversity.
If applicants hire outside help (consultants, grant writers, etc.), they must disclose their names and payments. Paying more than 15% of the grant amount in such fees will disqualify the application from receiving priority points. Also, grant funds cannot be used to pay for preparing the application itself.
In short, this grant supports agricultural producers aiming to increase income through innovative product development and marketing, with careful attention to fairness, transparency, and rural impact.Apply for RDBCP VAPG 2026
